Organofunctional silanes are intermediaries due to their difunctionality, they are able to bond chemically with inorganic (particularly siliceous) surfaces as well as with organic polymers. As special representatives of this family of compounds, rubber silanes create a permanent bond between silica (= siliceous surface) and rubber (= organic polymer).

Si 69® is produced in a multi-phase process from the basic raw materials allyl chloride, trichlorosilane, ethanol and a sodium sulfide compound.

The Evonik Industries Inorganic Materials Division operates a total of four production facilities for silanes and silane derivatives in western Europe, the US and China. Application engineering facilities exist in Germany, the US and Taiwan. Our research facilities are concentrated in Germany.
